Sofia Hayat was one of the most controversial contestants on the Big Boss season 7. In June 2016, she announced that she has embraced spirituality and become a nun. She adopted the name, Gaia Sofia Mother.

Sofia got the swastika symbol, considered sacred in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainisim, tattooed on her feet and a symbol depicting Allah on her leg. Apolice complaint was filed against Sofia Hayat for getting the symbol of ‘swastika’ inked on the soles of both her feet. The symbol being considered sacred by the Hindu community, Sofia ended up enraging the social media.

 Months after announcing to the world that she had denounced worldly pleasures and become a nun, Sofia Hayat said that she had found love with her now husband Vlad Stanescu. They married this year in an Egyptian ceremony.

 Sofia and husband Vlad got the identical sacred tattoo on their arms. Sofia shared a picture of the same and wrote: "Today we both did this..Goddess Isis and Ramases..The Sun God and Moon together..in union in this incredible tattoo..marking our sacred past lives..our sacred union..and the New Age. The take over is done. Love has won!"
